Product Description
I love playing golf, and I love reading SF and fantasy. I thought it was a shame there were few (if any) SF&F stories involving golf. I wanted to write a story that would appeal both to SF&F fans and to golfers. Although this story doesn't contain the humor that many of mine do, it definitely incorporates a sense of irony, and even the title is something of a pun. I hope the story projects a sense of excitement about the sport, but it's largely a character study of an aging golfer who is given one last chance at glory.

About the Author

Mark is married, with two teenage daughters. He's a scratch golfer (in his dreams) and a former Mensa member—not because he got stupid, but because he stopped paying his dues. Even as a child, Mark knew exactly what he wanted to be when he grew up: an astronaut, a baseball player, and a pirate. By his early teens, his goal had changed to architect. By high school the plan was to become a lawyer. That goal persisted through college, where Mark earned his BA in Criminal Justice. Two years of law school later, Mark decided law wasn't for him after all and took a job with a “major computer company.” That association has lasted for the past 28 years. It took until 2003 before Mark decided to finally sit down and write a novel. Thus was born The Tesserene Imperative. In 2004, Mark wrote his second novel, The Mars Imperative. In 2005 he began work on the third in the series. Halfway through the story, he decided to put it aside until someone bought the first two books. In early 2006, Mark wrote Sunrise Destiny. Then in 2007 he wrote My Other Car is a Spaceship. While writing Spaceship, Mark was fortunate enough to sell his first two novels, with the third in the series following when it's completed. This wasn't the path Mark had envisioned for his life, back when he wanted to be an astronaut and a pirate. Yet, Mark managed to hang onto a bit of that, instead writing about astronauts and pirates. (And who knows? Maybe lawyers too, someday.) The Mars Imperative is currently available, with The Tesserene Imperative planned for later in 2007.
