Editorial Reviews
Book Description
A user-friendly book for massage therapists addressing the common complaint of lower back and pelvic pain

Product Description
A MASSAGE THERAPIST'S GUIDE TO LOWER BACK AND PELVIC PAIN describes in detail the background to the evolution of "non-specific" backache as well as the assessment and treatment methods ideal for use in combination with massage therapy, deriving from physical therapy, osteopathic, and chiropractic sources. The book describes these methods individually and then integrates them into a detailed description of a massage session focusing on the person with backache. This unique book takes care to consider the needs of the massage therapist, who previously may have had to adapt his/her own methodology from descriptions aimed at other health care professionals.

  • Abundant illustrations enrich the text and bring content to life to make it easily understandable.
  • Bulleted point text and summaries allow the reader to quickly find information and review important content.
  • Easy-reference format and accessible language help break down concepts.
  • Included DVD demonstrates real-life examples of the palpation and treatment methods.

Preparing to take various licencing and certification exams seems to be an ongoing concern for many.  I have noticed various trends as I read the reviews on the relevant textbooks and review guides.

It is so important to learn how to take an exam. Not memorize material.  None of the review guides have the exact questions that appear on exams. Therefor when using study guides make sure they reference books used to verify test questions on the exam.  There will be a list of these books on the state or organization web sites.  Seek to understand the process of taking exams. Learn your terminology. Practice tests will only tell you how well you did on that particular test. Use practice test as a study format instead of a measure of how well you will do on the exam.   You can pass a practice test and not pass the exam you are challenging.

Hope this helps and persist.
