About the Author
Richard James (Richie) Aligo is a native of Hoboken, New Jersey. Upon graduating from Oklahoma State University in 1973 with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture he settled in Houston, Texas where he is an architect.
He played baseball in high school and for the Hoboken Babe Ruth League where he as twice selected as an All-Star catcher. In Houston, he coached for three years in 'C and 'B' Class women's slow-pitch softball city and independent leagues. In those years his team complied a 59-22-1 win/loss record. (.719) and placed 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st (twice) in tournament play. It was through this coaching experience that he began to link the fundamentals he learned while playing baseball to the concepts of slow-pitch softball.
From this foundation he has developed a process for educating and developing athletes, combining basic fielding and hitting skills and requirements into a workable, structured and organized plan for playing slow-pitch softball.
