From Library Journal
Like Bill James's revisionist view of Hall of Fame choices in The Politics of Glory (LJ 1/94), this book takes issue with the selections for baseball's annual All-Star games. Coleman, sportswriter and historian, picks the "true" all-stars of the big leagues from 1933 to 1977. His statistics argue strongly that often the best players of each year were not chosen. With a summary of each game, he adds his all-time stars and critically examines Hall of Fame voting. Though costly, this is a good choice for research collections.
