Kindergarten-Grade 2AA lonely wizard in a tower lacks a friend and is bored. He creates a double, but when they argue, he zaps him. Out of nowhere, another tower appears. In it lives another wizard. For unknown reasons, the two become instant enemies and battle so viciously that even their towers fight. Although the two men are still wearing their hats, they suddenly realize that they are both bald. This commonality unites them as fast friends. This German import lacks enough depth to lead to a good discussion on conflict and resolution and the plot is full of holes. The unanswered questions, such as why the wizard lives so far from anyone else, or how the tower suddenly appears, will confuse children. The illustrations are colorful, and the text is simple, but the humor and story will not attract the intended audience. There's no magic here.AMarty Abbott Goodman, L.J.
