Editorial Reviews
Product Description
Tales from Baseball's Golden Age is a collection of anecdotes about baseball in the 1940s and '50s. The author interviewed nearly 100 former Major League Baseball players about their experiences in the era that purists consider to be the Golden Age of Baseball. For longtime fans who are enamored of baseball history and tradition, this book should have special appeal. Each entry is prefaced by a concise player profile, leading into an anecdote that is written entirely in the player's own words. Among the players interviewed are Ralph Kiner, Bobby Thomson, Bill Virdon, Jerry Coleman, and Tim McCarver. Tales from Baseball's Golden Age promises to be a book that readers won't want to put down.

About the Author
Gene Fehler has written two other books, both containing baseball poems. Center Field Grasses (McFarland & Co.) was released in 1991, and I Hit the Ball (McFarland & Co.) was published in 1996. He will release a third, non-baseball book in Spring 2000, Let the Poems Begin! (Good Apple). Fehler has also had articles, poems, and stories published in more than 200 magazines and anthologies. He resides in Seneca, South Carolina.
