From Publishers Weekly
Calling an e-publishing guide "definitive" is brazen; even Wiesner admits that "in six months, this guide will almost surely be hopelessly outdated because the industry is changing so rapidly." She has, however, produced an effusive yet solid introduction to the field. Wiesner, author of three romances published online, reveals how to evade the difficult terrain of New York agents, editors and publishers in favor of the Web (though she admits the audience and proceeds aren't what they could be--yet). The heart of the book consists of submission guidelines, sample contracts (advances are rare but royalties can be much higher than for paper) and Web links for 62 e-book publishers (including extensive interviews with 28 of them). There's also an overview of available reading devices and formats, plus interviews with 13 genre novelists who publish on the Web. Although not as resourceful in her marketing suggestions as M.J. Rose and Angela Adair-Hoy in their similar guide, The Secrets of Our Success (Forecasts, Jan. 31), Wiesner offers a thorough introduction to building and promoting an e-book Web site. Genre writers shut out by diminishing mass market lists will find this is a must-own resource. www.avidpress.com. PetalsofLife.com has announced that it will no longer publish new titles.
