Bruce Oscar, WDCB Radio 90.9, Chicago/Glen Elleyn
The music in this album represents a return to the straight- ahead approach in jazz so often missing or not understood by today's younger players. The arrangements pay homage to a unified presentation of melody and harmony rather than the aspect of just seeing how many notes one can technically throw into a measure - a thoughtful compilation that was enjoyable. I've had the pleasure of actually working with Laksar - a new talent on the recording scene - someone to keep your eye on.

Review by Emphasis music states:
"Laksar Reese has produced a collection of jazz standards and original recordings that is sure to please audiences worldwide. Kicking things of with the swinging standard "Sonny Side of the Street", followed by a mix of classic jazz standards, and intelligent originals like, "Blues n'it" and "Love is a Wonderful Thing" while adding a funk influenced version of what is this thing called love. This debut release allows each member of the Quintet to highlight their own individual strengths while remaining tight as a unit and contributing to the over-all flavor of the sound that is uniquely the Laksar Reese Quintet"
