New story at Amazon

10:59 AM PDT, April 14, 2006
Amazon has just published a new piece. Limping Frogs is a somewhat surrealistic tale about changing landscapes.  I hope you enjoy this story.  I took great pleasure in writing it and would truly appreciate your feedback.

And, if you'd like to know what I do when I'm not writing stories click here to view some of my paintings .

As well, your comments are always welcome.

Last but not least, I appreciate the time you take to read and review my work.
THank you.

I'm always curious to know . . .

What are you reading?  If you check my bio you'll see some of my favorites.  I'd also like to know yours.

I can not recommend highly enough Tom Saunders' collection.  Brother What Strange Place is This?

Another book I liked  Perfume by Patrick Susskind .

Both are available on Amazon.

That said, what would you recommend to me?  Fiction or nonfiction.  I'm not particularly fond of horror.

Keep me posted.

Works in progress

1:01 PM PST, December 28, 2005, updated at 1:38 PM PST, January 30, 2006
This message has been edited because the first thing I need to say is Thank You to all who have read my novel and stories.  And now the update makes sense.

The Lilac Thieves
my third novel is finished. Now I'm working on a fourth novel, the working title is Holy Days of Obligation.  The story is about a young woman, recently widowed, and her daughter, the mirror image of her stunning, Italian mother.  Their struggles to survive under the pressures of a very religious neighborhood in an economically challenged fishing village make for an interesting story.  But do not discount the downfall of their church--a magnificent example of Gothic architecture--as a striking factor in this tale.  As it crumbles, sordid relationships come to light and people you thought you knew change--some for better, others worse.

And I am hoping to complete a serial version of Ablution, a coming-of-age short story that has grown into a novella.  It speaks to Del Beebo's fear of dogs and how this transforms into a full-blown fear of sex with the help of a healthy dose of old time religion. Not a good thing for a boy reaching his hormonal prime. Do you remember push button transmissions?  If so, you'll laugh at this one.  Would be nice to get this up on Amazon Shorts in the near future.  God and editors willing, of course.

Bio

I write and paint with passion, ignoring as many rules as possible except one. Get the idea across succinctly, by whatever means are at hand. Then trust viewer and reader instinct to grasp the message. If they have to work a little, hey that never killed anyone.

I enjoy the abandon with which children approach art. There are few things more gratifying than seeing the fresh, unabridged expressions of emotional worlds. As story tellers, they are energetic and exciting. We, as adults, can learn a lot from them when we look and listen.
